Commercial overview

A CWDM or DWDM order begins with the channel and passive route plan

CWDM and DWDM modules belong to a wavelength system, not an isolated part list. The buyer should define the grid or channel, endpoints, direction, mux/demux or OADM path, connector and splice loss, fibre length, margin, monitoring and future channel plan. A module with the correct nominal wavelength can still be unsuitable when the passive path or power boundary is different.

The link budget should separate transmitter range, receiver range, fibre and connector loss, passive insertion loss, ageing/operating margin and any dispersion or amplification boundary relevant to the design. Channel labels and A/B direction must remain consistent across optics, passive devices, patch panels, packing and field records.

MingApex coordinates WDM optics and passive components against the named route. We do not treat a wavelength list as blanket availability or a complete engineered system. The written quotation identifies channel, component scope, source, evidence, quantity, MOQ, timing and the assumptions that remain with the network designer.

Decision matrix

Wavelength-route decisions to close before quotation

Keep unknown values visible. The selected product should follow the complete link and operating requirement, not a headline specification.

Buyer scenarios

Buyer scenarios

Metro fibre expansion

A carrier can add channels without new fibre only when the passive port plan, loss, direction and existing channels are known. Reserve and label future channels before field work.

Enterprise campus WDM

A campus route may use simple CWDM but still needs endpoint ownership, passive location, loss, patch-panel labels and restoration instructions that facilities and IT can follow together.

Protected DWDM service

Working and protection routes must retain distinct channels, endpoints and evidence. A change to one path should not silently alter the other or the spare allocation.

Controlled workflow

Controlled workflow

  1. 01 · Define the installation

Record the grid, channel, direction, endpoints, passive topology, route loss, margin and future channel plan.

  2. 02 · Engineer the boundary

Separate mandatory values, allowed tolerances and buyer-owned unknowns. Show every proposed deviation before selection.

  3. 03 · Approve a representative unit

Use the named host, route or assembly and an agreed method. Retain failed observations and limitations together with passing results.

  4. 04 · Release the order scope

Connect configuration, quantity, labels, source, evidence, packing and accepted deviations to the final quotation and purchase-order lines.

  5. 05 · Preserve for operation

Store a repeatable receiving or field check and define the source, component, route or document changes that require notice and review.

Evidence and release control

Evidence and release control

Controlled requirement

The record identifies the exact channel schedule, passive route and optical budget, assumptions, tolerances and open questions used for selection.

Representative approval

Sample or field evidence identifies the configuration, date, method, equipment/host, result and limitations used for release.

Receiving traceability

Lot or serial identity, quantity, labels, packing and visible inspection checks connect delivered items to the approved record.

Change and deviation log

Every accepted deviation and future change trigger has a consequence, owner, expiry and defined review action.

Commercial planning

Commercial planning

Compare price only after the technical installation and evidence boundary are aligned. The cost can change materially with channel, laser type, passive devices, connector scope, route evidence and project-specific labels; the quotation should show what is included instead of hiding scope differences in one unit price.

MOQ and timing are confirmed by line. Separate sample or drawing approval, component preparation, production, inspection and transport. A specialised low-volume line can control a mixed order even when total quantity is high.

The commercial scope should state currency, Incoterm, payment, sample cost, quantity, allowed alternatives, delivery model, evidence, inspection responsibility, warranty/RMA route and change-notice expectation.

Before award, separate confirmed facts, supplier statements, engineering assumptions, accepted deviations and items that still require buyer validation. Connect the same decision revision to quotation and purchase order.

Any material change to the installation, host, route, assembly, channel, source, component or delivery target should reopen the affected decision rows. Earlier approval is not automatically future-proof.

Procurement questions

Procurement questions

What is required to start the review?

Provide the grid/channel, direction, endpoints, passive route, fibre/connector loss, required margin, quantity, labels, spares and future channel plan.

Does the category label prove project suitability?

No. The label describes one characteristic. Suitability depends on the complete named installation, host, route or assembly and the agreed acceptance evidence.

When is a representative sample needed?

Use a sample when the host, environment, route, assembly, source or configuration is new, or when field-failure consequences justify validation. Agree the test and acceptance boundary first.

Can an alternative be substituted after approval?

Only when the affected technical, evidence and commercial rows are reviewed and the alternative is accepted in writing. Silent substitution is not an approved change process.

Are stock, MOQ and timing fixed?

No. Exact configuration, source, availability, MOQ, sample or engineering work, production, evidence and delivery timing are confirmed in the written quotation for the named requirement.
